MM5 Sake Tasting with Homemade Hot Japanese Appetizers
Invalid Image Link

Fujio's sake tasting has been a popular auction event for the past three years. Five to seven different sakes will be provided. The sakes will include Junmai (pure rice sake), Namasake (draft), Nigori (unfiltered), Junmai Ginjo (premium), and others. We will also include several homemade Japanese appetizers that Kim will prepare to accompany the sake. We will provide an informal presentation regarding the sake as we taste the sake together.

E1 Local Artist Discussion: Sid Chafetz
Invalid Image Link

Visit Art House Retreat in Clintonville for a discussion of late OSU Professor emeritus Sid Chafetz's art. Several pieces from a private collection will be showcased as we explore how his social commentary is still relevant in today's political climate and how art and nature can help each of us make sense of society and the community we want to foster. Event is planned for 90 minutes (10am - 11:30). Light refreshments will be offered.

Please note the home is not fully accessible and requires the use of steps into the house.

E3 Visit to Rumpke Recycling Plant in Columbus (April 11)
Invalid Image Link

Every week many (most?) of us put out a recycling bin or bag that mysteriously disappears in the course of the day. Where does it go? What do they do with it? Is the material really recycled into once-again usable products? Join us for a tour of the Rumpke Columbus Recycling Facility to see and learn all about the “Single Stream Process." Tour includes a short auditorium presentation by Rumpke Education Specialist, a short walk to the facility, and a complete tour of the operation. (Not wheelchair accessible). Goggles, safety vest, and ear plugs provided. Car pool from First UU or meet in facility parking lot.

We’ve booked two dates to accommodate differing availability (tours are limited to 15 people – 13 years old and above). (This one) Tuesday, April 11, 2023 – 1:00 PM and (alternatively): Tuesday, May 9 at 10:00 AM.

MM9 Brunch and the Lazy Man's Birding (June 8)
Invalid Image Link

Come to my condo on the river for brunch, and to watch a panoramic view of birds coming to the feeders. I'll have a variety of sandwiches and salads, and some sweet baked goods to choose from, including some vegan foods.
By this time in June I usually have Baltimore Orioles and Catbirds, in addition to the Finches, Chickadees, Cardinals, Bluejays, Hummingbirds, Woodpeckers and the occasional Tufted Titmouse and Nuthatch.
I will offer this twice since I can really only accommodate 6 people in my living room at a time.

MM2 Palm Springs Cocktail Party
Invalid Image Link

What better time to have a cocktail party than the Summer Solstice? This year we'll host a Palm Springs themed cocktail party at our condo, and weather permitting, outside on our patio. Featuring the classic mid century cocktails including the Old Fashioned, Manhattan, Martini and a couple of surprises, and maybe a Margarita or two. Light food fare will also be served, and of course, wine, beer and soft drinks if you prefer. Space is limited. Bid this up folks. It'll be great.
