Family Friendly Dungeons & Dragons Party Family-Friendly D&D Party: Take a chance: roll the dice!

Looking for a great, family-friendly game of imagination and creativity? Dungeons & Dragons is back!
Kids and their grown-ups can join with their fellow nerdy UU families for an afternoon of interactive creative storytelling, snacks, dice and … a dragon?
This party is perfect for players ages 8 and up, and all skill levels are welcome. In this event, kids, and their accompanying grown-ups, are welcome to share a fun afternoon laughing with creative people through a fantastic adventure.
Everything needed to play will be provided, from the funky-looking dice to any needed advice or tutorials.
Your host and Dungeon Master, Matt Brown (of the Scherfen-Brown clan), will guide you through an exciting adventure with plenty of opportunities for daring-do, magic shenanigans, and bad, fake accents.

The adventure should take about 2-3 hours of playtime; however, people have been known to get carried away on occasion, and that’s ok. We’ll play as long as your barbarian can swing an axe, or your wizard can cast a spell.

Matt will host two sessions: This one is the FAMILY-FRIENDLY game. Each bid is per person, and children must be accompanied by an adult. If you’re an adult and would like to play without kids, please bid on the Adult D&D Party.

BONUS: if bidding goes above $20 per person, your characters will start at a higher level, with cooler stuff!

Two bridges walk across Manhattan
Invalid Image LinkSold

After this excursion, you can say you walked the entirety of Manhattan and back! No need to mention it was the entire WIDTH, not LENGTH. Starting at the Jersey side in Fort Lee Historic Park, we’ll take in the gorgeous views along and across the Hudson (and the small musuem if desired), then cross the River by foot on the George Washington Bridge. A few blocks through the Washington Heights neighborhood will take us to New York’s most picturesque and oldest large bridge – the High Bridge, which was built in the 1840s to carry the Croton Aqueduct over the Harlem River. The Bridge was closed for 40 years before reopening in 2015 for pedestrians only. About 5.5 miles round trip (less that if you taxi/jitney back). If you're very energetic, we can take a short diversion down to something "fat and red and jolly" -- no, not Santa Claus, but the "Little Red Lighthouse" of the famous 1940s children's book. After we return to NJ, we can (optionally) dine at one of the great Korean restaurants in Fort Lee. 20 0 000015.0 15 .00007E7 7 9/26/20 3:30 PM

Memoir Writing and Brunch Flannery O’Connor wrote that if you survived childhood, you have enough information to last you the rest of your life.

Do you have a story that you've been itching to write down, and you just never got around to doing it? Everyone has a story and these stories should be told, and in so doing you can find out more clearly about yourself, your values, and your relationships with others. This can be a healing process.

We will gather at Francesca’s house for a delicious brunch from 9-10 am, then we'll settle in to write together.

This workshop has 2 blocks of time and will use prompts that will help you to discover what you really want to write about from any period of your life. Come and write in a nurturing environment.

We gather to honor the invisible work of caregiving and to deeply attune to the herbal allies along the journey. This workshop will blend shamanic drumming, plant botany and the joy of gathering together. Sunday, Jan 26 at Jill's house starting on time at 3pm and ending at 5pm

Gather around the fireplace (at my place if I’m re-domiciled, or at the temporary House of Usher in Montclair if I’m not) and take a turn reading a favorite eerie tale or melancholy poem (copies provided). We’ll conclude with a toast to Poe at midnight - or earlier if we suffer from “Loss of Breath.” 12 1 000030.0 30 .0001E7 10 10/16/20 8:12 PM
