Three pieces from "Clouds Series" 2011 by Nuno Gomes (2012 Durham Arts Council Emerging Artist). 12.5"x12.5". Made from 100% recycled LP album covers. These piece were part of a larger installation that won the Peoples Choice Award at the Scrapel Hill 2011 exhibit and have been exhibited at Durham Arts Council and Tool Room Gallery in Ventura, CA in 2012. The long play record was always a great multimedia experience, the music along with the art of cover. The large print piece that was the LP is now lost, mostly to MP3s, CDs and tape cassettes before that. This project repurposes LP covers, much like a remix or musical mash up, reconstructing visual ‘samples’ to build something new. Pieces are cut from their original context and reassembled like a jig saw puzzle, inlaid into other LP covers.
