Camping Trip to Sterling State Park on Lake Erie in Michigan (Sept. 17-19) We liked last year's campground so well we're going back. This year we'll stick closer to the park to allow plenty of time to explore the beach and the hiking trails. Side trips might include nearby historic Monroe (for history buffs), site of the largest battle of the War of 1812 and home town of General George Armstrong Custer, and more than likely an antique shop or two. We'll provide transportation, accommodations in the O'Neil tent camper, Friday supper and Sat. and Sun. breakfast. You pay for museum costs and other meals - still a bargain! 4 1 35 9/17/10 N N N

Bike & Train Ride in Cuyahoga Valley National Park Join us on a bike/train excursion in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We will drive to Akron (about 2 hours) and bike north on the historic Ohio Canal towpath along the "crooked river" toward Cleveland. We can stop as the group desires--lunch in the town of Penninsula (your cost), historic locks, demonstration farms and National Park visitor centers. We will then catch the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad back. Distance we travel depends on number of stops; maximum distance is 20 miles. Participants must have their own bikes and be able to ride 20 easy miles on crushed limestone paths. Bike helmets are required. 4 0 10 6/26/10 9:00 AM N N N

Turkish coffee, brewed as you watch, in your own kitchen, & shortbread cookies Turkish coffee, brewed the traditional way, in a brass ibrik (approx 8 fluid ounces). I use 1/2 dark and 1/2 light, with cardamom, and sugar (no milk!). 2 ibrik minimum for $14, with additional ibriks available for $7 each (each ibrik will serve 3-4). Accompanied by homemade shortbread cookies. Timing as convenient for winning bidders. Mornings suggested (brunch?), due to caffeine content, and decaf is not an option. I once heard a story that said that the real cause of The Great War was that some Archduke, in his haste to calm things down, ordered Turkish DECAF--and that REALLY made his opposition mad! 8 2 14 N N N

Kay Wagner Needlpoint "Visiting Friends" Kay and Dick Wagner were local artists and members of this church before their deaths. During the 80s, Dick would sketch a simple line drawing, and Kay would then turn the line drawing into a needlepoint artpiece. This is a winter snow scene with a lovely lavender sky and a crowd of people walking toward a neighbor's home. Kay named it "Visiting Friends" and completed this in 1985. 1 0 20 N N N

Mindful Eating This dinner is for the Buddhist in you. In the tradition of Thich Nhat Hahn, when you walk, you walk. When you talk, you talk. And...when you eat, you eat. In this spirit, we will share a "mindful eating" experience in silence. Amid the silence, we will mindfully eat a vegetarian, gluten-free meal. Weather permitting we will dine out-of-doors. Bring a light jacket, if needed. Youth and families are welcomed to attend.

By the way, we will save time after dessert to talk and listen, sharing after the silent meal.

Polarity Balance Dr. Randolph Stone, M.D. coined the term Polarity, in reference to the electromagnetic polar direction of the energy. If you want to be relaxed, feel balanced and energized, a Polarity session may be for you. Unlike massage, polarity can be done over clothing. Polarity includes a series of extremely gentle movements of the joints and limbs, neck, feet, and trunk. It helps clear blocked energy or tension. This is a 1-hour session at my North side location. Massage therapy appointment with Helene Roussi I have been a licensed massage therapist for almost 20 years. My goal is to help people overcome muscular tightness and pain so they can feel as healthy as possible. Although I am very good at basic relaxation massages, I specialize in a deep tissue massage called myofascial therapy, or trigger point therapy. Although the effects of the therapy are deep, the amount of pressure is variable, and based upon the sensitivity and tolerance of the client. The work will never be deeper than is comfortable for you. I have worked with world class athletes, parapalegics, children, the elderly and probably someone just like you.

My office is conveniently located on High St. in Worthington, with office hours available by appointment: 614.209.1177.

Crazy Pizza Night It's time to celebrate getting our taxes finished (or NOT). This dinner will really be a pizza-making event where we stand around in my kitchen drinking wine and we invent pizzas. Maybe someone will bid on this who can provide piano accompaniment for the cooks! I will provide the ingredients and we'll vote on combinations for each of several gourmet pizzas. Of course all good things take time. I will put you to work rolling out dough and assembling (I only have one pizza stone), and we'll argue over who gets the anchovies (YES), and we'll create something divine. It promises to be a rather long evening. Maybe we'll try tossing the dough if you promise not to get it on the ceiling. 6 2 25 4/17/10 7:00 PM N N N
