OLD BARNS
Invalid Image LinkSold
Invalid Image Link
I have over 400 photos of barns, mostly old ones, some sequences of their decline and fall. I'll share a slide tour at my place, maybe with coffee. I can augment that with two examples of how I have incorporated barns into background scenes in my miniature places. Best done one-on-one, but two could work. You can bring a flash drive if you'd like to copy some photos to take home. 1 0 .00005E7 5

THE INTERURBAN ERA
Invalid Image LinkSold
Invalid Image Link
From Frank Sprague to Henry Ford: Interurbans, especially in Ohio, were a significant means of linking rural communities to the cities. The disastrous epizootic emphasized the need to substitute electric motors for horses. Frank Sprague was the inventor. The interurban was a hybrid: a heavy streetcar but more flexible than a passenger train. But when Henry's Model T was mass-produced and rural roads improved, the interurban network began to collapse. I'm offering an illustrated presentation, at my place. I'll do one or two persons. Dates as arranged. 1 -1 .0001E7 10

CUYAHOGA RIVER BEYOND CUYAHOGA COUNTY

Two options: (1) Have you ever visited Oxbow Bend in the Cuyahoga Falls area? There 's a riverside picnic spot (bring your own lunch) and a dramatic overview nearby, plus a visit to the newly free-flowing river past Front Street.

(2) Kent: Tannery Park is another riverside picnic place, then a short riverside walk along the river to an interpretive park under Main Street Bridge. I'll take 2 or 3 persons on either excursion on a nice day.

VIADUCT PARK IN BEDFORD Bedford was one of the first communities to develop in Cuyahoga County. If you've never visited Viaduct Park and don't mind some walking, I encourage you to do it. It's not too difficult to walk right down to the edge of Tinkers Creek and see that amazing tunnel. If we time a visit when the Bedford Historical Museum is open, that would complement such a visit. 1 0 .0001E7 10
