Tour of Whitehall Manor and Lunch Whitehall Manor is a beautiful, historic, privately owned home in Stillwater, New Jersey. Built by Nathan Armstrong Shafer in 1775, Whitehall Manor is a charming example of the German-influenced stone houses and stone mill still found in the charming village of Stillwater in Sussex County. Receive a private tour from the home’s current owner, and explore the large gardens on this two-plus acre property. The home’s history includes the fact that Aline Murray Kilmer, the widow of poet Joyce Kilmer, lived the last decade of her life at Whitehall, passing away there on October 1, 1941.

After the tour, convene at the home of Hal and Jeff for an au plein air luncheon.

Old Testament Drama: Saul to David If any part of the Old Testament reads like a novel, this is it. We'll read about Saul's paranoia and how it drives him nuts. We'll read about David, the warrior king who not only slays Goliath and a bunch of Philistines, but, when he hangs up his spear, plays the guitar and writes poetry and probably hangs out at the local coffee shop or wine bar. His love life includes Michal (Saul's daughter), Bathsheba and Saul's son Jonathan. And his love for his lousy son Absalom! "Absalom, Absalom, my son, my son!" He weeps over him even as his son tries to kill him. Jerry thinks you'll find David among the most remarkable characters in all western literature and understand why the messiah stems from David's line.

Coffee and refreshments will be served.

This is a series of three sessions--December 1, 15, and 29--to be held at the Fellowship.

Arthur in Autumn: O Fortuna On the afternoon of October 14, at the Fellowship, we'll watch Excalibur, the 1981 John Boorman film that Pauline Kael described as "a retelling of the Arthurian legends...soaked in Jung and scored to themes from Carl Orff’s 'Carmina Burana' and Wagner. Boorman’s Excalibur has its own kind of crazy integrity. At first, I couldn’t quite believe what I was seeing: a serious, R-rated fairy tale." And so, sated with water and veggies and maybe some potato chips, shall we test the mythic dimensions of our own imaginations as we view Boorman’s epic. "If Excalibur is a lamebrainstorm of a movie, it’s at least a genuine storm,” said Kael. I think you'll enjoy it! If not, it's better than watching the NFL on an October Sunday afternoon!! 25 10 000000.0 0 .00015E7 15 10/14/18 1:15 PM

If thou lov’st me then,
Steal forth thy father’s house tomorrow night
And in the wood, a league without the town,
There will I stay for thee. That place the sharp Athenian law
Cannot pursue us...

Snacks, drinks, collectible playbill, souvenirs and magic will be provided. And a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
