Hike and Picnic at George Childs Recreation Area The George W. Childs Recreational Area, restored and reopened in 2024, is the site of a number of beautiful cascade waterfalls along Dingmans Creek. This picturesque park is a part of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational area and includes expansive hemlock groves and photo-worthy waterfalls. The trail is a well-maintained 1.8 mile loop and is good for all skill levels. An ample box lunch will be provided to eat in the picnic area following the hike. Parents Night Out A fun night for kids at UUFSC. Parents can drop off their child(ren) until 8PM and enjoy a few hours to themselves. Dinner will be serviced to the children (pizza, fresh veggies with dip and drinks). Autumn Visit to Storm King Art Center A visit to the grounds of Storm King Art Center in Mountainville, New York. This is a 500-acre museum and outdoor sculpture garden with many monumental art pieces and inspiring views. The art center has just completed a once-in-a-generation capital upgrade. October is usually the best time to visit, since the fall foliage adds to the experience. Bring drinking water; you can pack a picnic lunch or buy food at the cafe and food stands on the grounds. Sterling Mine Exhibit & Tour The Sterling Mine Tour in Ogdensburg is one of NJ’s top attractions. The mineral display, enhanced by a gigantic gift from the Oreck family, rivals the Smithsonian, and geologists from around the world come to see the unique fluorescent minerals. The underground portion of the tour is enlarged and improved from prior times. This was the nation’s largest zinc mine.
