Let's spend the afternoon at the CSUS Aquatic Center for a half-day SUP lesson and a picnic lunch afterwards. The requirements for this class include only two things: 1) the ability to swim, and 2) tennis-shoes, water shoes or sandals with a heel strap. Everything else needed will be furnished for each participant, such as the life vest, board, leash, and paddle. This is offered for ages 21 and over only and is rated easy to medium. There are no waves, so if you're not at your optimum fitness level it is quite easily manageable to paddleboard. You may want to bring a towel, because you will get wet. | Lafayette Reservoir Walk and Picnic | Join me for this dog-friendly, kids-welcome event just one and half hours southwest of Sacramento. Lafayette Reservoir is a unique recreational area and an East Bay treasure. We’ll walk the Lakeside Trail, a 2.7 mile paved path around the reservoir and then picnic under the majestic Valley Oaks. The trail has several steep hills but there are plenty of benches and scenic stops along the way. You’ll see glistening water, cool forests, inviting meadows, surrounding hills and many birds, including: white pelicans, hawks, ducks, goldfinches, maybe an eagle and more. I’ll provide the picnic lunch. We’ll carpool and share gas and parking ($7/car). Paddle boats may be available after lunch at your cost. There’s something for everyone on this leisurely outing. We’ll leave Sacramento in the morning and return by late afternoon.
