In this debut collection, Susan Spalt examines the fabric of family life with an eye sometimes merry, sometimes melancholy, but always warm and loving. Her clear voice is close in our ear as she directs us past the externals into complex emotional interiors, ruminates on how life can turn “a crescent moon into a broken collar bone,” or how “we danced slowly at our daughter’s wedding as if it were our own.” Reader, you will find yourself in these pages. We’re all here. --Florence Nash 2 0 000012.0 12 .00008E7 8

"A Good Set" by Danny Gotham
Invalid Image LinkSold
Invalid Image Link
A Good Set is a new territory for me; I have always wanted to do an album that basically represented a typical set at my rare solo shows. I don't do solo shows very often, but I do like the challenge. This album has zero overdubs. Ten tracks, with equal portions of vocals and instrumentals. The entire album was recorded in one session of about five hours. All things considered, it came out pretty good. Sundays Two (with Glenn Mehrbach) is the followup to my "Sundays" album. Glenn is one of the finest musicians I know, and this is an album that we both take great pride in. Old Friends is my second solo CD: there are a lot of songs that I've played and listened to over the years (hence the title; some of these pieces were recorded on earlier albums), and this recording features some of them (Donovan's "Colors"; Hendrix' "Little Wing", among others) as well as a number of newer original mandolincompositions that were inspired by my favorite picking partner, Peter Ostroushko. I worked very hard on this album, and I'm really pleased with the results. "repast" by Danny Gotham
Invalid Image LinkSold

repast is a double CD. I spent about two years on it; it is a special project to commemorate turning sixty and being (more or less) in one piece. I have a huge supporting cast, and the music reflects my eclectic tastes: An original mandolin waltz, a Puerto Rican cuatro piece, Count Basie's "Down for Double", a solo ukulele rendition of "Something", you name it. The one real departure for me on this album are the tracks featuring some good friends doing lead vocals. Thirty-two tracks; about an hour and forty three minutes of music. If "Guitarheel" was my magnum opus, this is a double. A very filling "meal"....Guaranteed. You pick from the week-ends that are available on our vrbo calendar. No more than 6 guests please. For seeing more of the house, please visit website at Up in the Trees. It is fully equipped, ready for guests including a chef's delight kitchen, streaming HD TV options, wi-fi, games, books, fenced in yard for small to medium sized dog, two car garage with remote, den and living room, and skylit dining room. NOTE: Buyers must also pay a $75 cleaning fee either in cash or by check when they vacate the house. Additional note: Our home is the second to the last house on a no through street. The folks who live next to us would prefer that we live in the house full time vs. offering it up as a vacation rental. They are very kind, nice folks, named Debbie and Rick. You might think otherwise by seeing the protest signs they have in their yard. We nor our guests have ever had a negative interaction. We respect their right to protest in this way, and we exercise our right to make "Up in the Trees" available as a vacation rental. Some people may feel uncomfortable, so we want you to know before you decide to bid on this item. It feels a little unwelcoming initially and a little psychic cleanse might be needed, but once you pull into the garage and close the garage door, you will know immediately that you are in your own private domain, whether on the front deck or in the rear yard. 1 0 000500.0 500 .0025E7 250

Savory Herbed Cheesecake Appetizer
Invalid Image LinkSold

Already thinking about the upcoming holiday parties and drawing a blank on what to take or what to serve at your own get-together? Do you want to change your tail-gating fare, or take something a little bit different to your family's mountain retreat? Then this might be the ticket! This is a baked, savory herb cheesecake appetizer that is best served at room temperature along with veggies and crackers. It can also be frozen for up to two weeks...just thaw at room temperature and serve as is. I can also make a gluten-free version, if needed. This will serve at least 12 people as a stand-alone appetizer, but probably 15-20 people if other food will be served. I'll need two weeks notice (or on Sunday, November 12th if you want this for Thanksgiving) for this dish. Note: The picture is just to get your attention. Try the real deal on auction night! 2 0 000035.0 35 .0002E7 20

Don and Susan will provide one driving trip for up to two people in their eco-friendly Prius (date to be arranged). The first stop will be at Southern Supreme Fruitcake & more in Bear Creek (www.southernsupreme.com). After sampling and shopping, we will drive to Seagrove Creations in Seagrove where pottery from ~20 studios is available. During our time in the Seagrove area, guests will be treated to lunch in a local restaurant and will have the opportunity to visit up to three individual studios (perhaps selected after viewing the pots at Seagrove Creations or selected at random along the Pottery Highway) - a great way to find a special gift for a future event, not to mention enjoying a chauffered drive through the beautiful NC countryside. The Blanchards have been collecting (and using!) pottery from Seagrove since the 1980s. 2 0 000050.0 50 .00025E7 25
