Kids Night Out! While parents enjoy a night out (perhaps to attend the "A Night of Romance (FF8)" at the home of Janen and Derek Wright), up to five kids are invited for an evening of fun, including dinner, at the home of Dianne Ewing (not far from the Wrights in Longmont). We'll make our own pizzas and salad. Depending on the weather, we may walk to the nearby playground for a little outdoor fun, maybe will build a snowman in Dianne's yard, and inside we'll create some craft projects, play some board games, tell and read stories, maybe make up our own trivia game. When kids are tired, they can snooze in a bedroom while others play in the living room. Infants through middle school are welcome. Older kids can bring ideas for younger kids. Dianne is a former elementary teacher, mother of 5, and grandmother of 10, and long-time member of UUCB. 5 4 000015.0 15 .0001E7 10 3/14/14 5:30 PM

El Camino de Santiago El Camino de Santiago, or the Way of St. James, is an ancient pilgrimage route across northern Spain. Legend holds that the remains of James son of Zebedee, one of the first disciples of Jesus, were carried by boat from Jerusalem to be buried at the site of what is now the city of Santiago de Compostela. Pilgrimages to Santiago began by at least the 9th century and have continued up through the present day when more than 150,000 people a year, from all over the world, make the journey. Come hear Susan Secord and Chris Hoffman share -- through slides, stories and poetry -- about their recent 500-mile walking pilgrimage along El Camino. Santiago cake (gluten free!) and coffee will be served. 8 -1 000015.0 15 .00015E7 15 3/22/14 7:00 PM

Waterfalls, Fjords, and icefields of Iceland On our recent self-guided tour of Iceland, we were astonished at the number of scenic waterfalls visible just off the main Ring Road that encircles the country. In our slideshow, we'll provide a visual survey of the island's spectacular vistas, from the western fjords to the Jokulsarlon, the outflow bay of Europe's largest glacier. We'll show the ancient rift valley, where the Atlantic Ocean splits asunder, and (in the same valley!) where the 800-year old democracy of Iceland started and continues. Pictures of Icelandic horses, hot springs, ancient churches, farms built on ashfields below active volcanoes, and water in all its phases will be shown.

A small post-show repast will be provided.
