We'll even experiment if you let us! Hee hee hee! Portuguese Dinner & Straight No Chaser If the phrase “male a cappella group” conjures up an image of students in blue blazers, ties, and khakis singing traditional college songs on ivied campuses… think again. Straight No Chaser (SNC) are neither strait-laced nor straight-faced. This contemporary a cappella group re-emerged from its college days thanks to a YouTube video of The 12 Days of Christmas. They are reinventing the idea of a cappella on the modern pop landscape. In an era when so much pop music is the product of digital processing and vocal pro-tooling, Straight No Chaser is the real deal - the captivating sound of ten unadulterated human voices coming together to make extraordinary music that is moving people in a fundamental sense… and with a sense of humor. Join a cappella fans Nadine and Louis Sapirman for a New Jersey night out. The evening begins with dinner at a fine Portuguese restaurant in the Ironbound District of Newark (THE place to go for the very finest Portuguese food!. You will then head to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) for the high-energy performance of Straight No Chaser (Orchestra section, row J). Comic OR Tragic Opera in Princeton this Summer Choose from Opera New Jersey’s summer season offerings by Gilbert & Sullivan or Giuseppe Verdi. Do you prefer the light-hearted exuberance of HMS Pinafore OR the very eloquent and plot-rich Il Trovatore? It’s your choice!

Joe & Margaret Jiuliano offer two tickets seated beside them donated by Opera New Jersey. They will pick you up, chauffeur you to Princeton’s McCarter Theatre, and escort you to the performance of your choice (July dates TBA). Dinner will also be provided at a nearby restaurant.

Comic opera HMS Pinafore; or, The Lass That Loved a Sailor was Gilbert & Sullivan’s 4th operatic collaboration and their first international sensation. The opera humor focuses on love between members of different social classes and lampoons the British class system in general. There’s plenty of mirth and silliness in this celebrated comic opera.

Il Trovatore premiered at Rome’s Teatro Apollo in 1853 and in the U.S. in 1855. The reason for its long-standing popularity is the music. Trovatore features one of the most spectacular tenor arias in any opera, a series of memorable soprano arias, some truly searing music for the mezzo-soprano and a couple of Verdi's signature, achingly beautiful baritone arias. And that's not to mention the famous "Anvil Chorus." You can be assured that Opera New Jersey will stage it with their best vocal talent this summer! Two people - one bid.

Avenue Q with Us and You Come join Raymond & Nancy Brungard for a hilarious time in NYC. They will pick you up around 1pm and take you into the city to see Avenue Q. Avenue Q has won Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book. If you haven't heard about it, it is sort of like Muppets for adults. The puppetry is awesome and the music is charming. The Brungards have seen it before and laughed so hard, they have decided to share it with two UU friends. After the show, the Brungards will take you out to dinner. Just tell them the kind of food you are interested in, and leave the rest to them! Two people - one bid. 1 0 000350.0 350 .002E7 200 5/6/12 1:00 PM
