Seneca Falls Women's Rights History Tour (no transportation) On July 19-20, 1848, a group of men and women met publicly to discuss women’s equality for the first time in United States History. They did so in Seneca Falls, New York, a mere 40 miles from Ithaca.

On June 21, 2016 from 10:00 am-4:00 p.m., we will head to Seneca Falls to explore this historic site. First, we will get a park-ranger guided tour of Elizabeth Cady Stanton’s home in Seneca Falls. Then we’ll break for a gourmet picnic lunch of brie, melon, prosciutto, salami, dolmades, baguette, and more, plus a homemade dessert! We will then tour the newly rebuilt Wesleyan Chapel, where the historic meeting took place, as well as the park visitors center and women’s history museum. Woman suffrage historian, Laura Free, will offer stories throughout the tour about the woman suffrage pioneers Stanton and Susan B. Anthony and the early days of the women’s rights movement.

Option 2: Tour+Lunch (provide your own ride to Seneca Falls)

Antique Dietz No. 6 Bell Bottom Railroad Lantern
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
A working kerosene railroad lantern from the NY Central mainline. Unpainted with a clear lens with New York Central on the glass itself. Dietz No. 6 bell bottom lantern was produced from the early 1890s through 1919. This lantern used a unique globe that only fit this exact model, unlike most other tall globe lanterns of the era which used a standard 5-3/8 globe, often referred to as the No. 39 globe. The New York Central Railroad ordered hundreds of these lanterns from the 1890s through the early 1900s and consequently, most No. 6 lanterns are marked for the New York Central, like this one. The exact age of this lantern is not known, but some design features indicate that it's an earlier model, dating anywhere from the 1890s through the early 1900s. 1 000200.0 200 .0007E7 70

Our 24 foot pontoon boat provides a fun way for up to four guests to see our community from a different perspective. We will depart from Myers Park in Lansing* and take a one to two hour boat ride. The winner of this action can choose whether we head south toward Ithaca to see views of Cornell University and Ithaca College or whether we head north toward Taughannock Falls State Park. If the weather is nice and the water is warm, we can even shut off the engine, jump in the water, and go for a swim. Children under the age of 12 must wear a personal flotation device at all times. We have life jackets for most sizes. Contact Andrew at 585-330-9094 to schedule the outing between June 1 and August 1, 2016. *Myers Park charges nonresidents $4 per car. 0 000240.0 240 .00075E7 75
