Laila Shawl, A Triangular Shawl by Sari Nordlund This design is a Laila Shawl, by Finnish designer Sari Nordlund. It was designed for Tukuwool Harmas, which is a breed-specific, 100% Kainuu Grey sheep wool. The shawl has a triangular shape and is worked from the tip to the ribbed edge. One side of the shawl features an original cable pattern with interesting lace sections, while the other side is a comforting and meditative garter stitch, which makes the shawl squishy and warm. It must be hand washed in luke warm water. 1 1 000000.0 0 .0005E7 50

Film and Comfort Food Come sit in my cozy little casita on a chilly November day to watch the Oscar-winning (Best Foreign Language Film) German movie The Lives of Others. It features a group of artists and writers who struggle against the harsh strictures the Gestapo is placing upon them as they seek to strive for humanity. It's a very suspenseful political thriller about the triumph of decency over egalitarian repression and cruelty.

You'll be served with a variety of nibblings and a hearty comfort meal with wine.

Double Feature:Two Classic Movie Matinees We’ll gather in Richard and Linda’s screening room two times, once in the fall and once in the spring, to view modern classic motion pictures. Your hosts will provide lots of movie snacks, drinks, and insider info and background material about the films. First up in September is the modern comedy classic The Princess Bride, directed by Rob Reiner, written by William Goldman (adapted from his novel of the same name), and offering the film debuts of Robin Wright in the title role and Cary Elwes, as well as a magnificent cast of some of the greatest actors in Hollywood. We’ll even see some video rarities, including a “home movie” short version of the film that many of the original creators put together from their homes during the COVID crisis. And, you’ll leave with unique souvenirs and a lighter step than when you came in. (The film for the Spring Modern Classic Movie Matinee is TBD.) Easy, Flat, 2-Mile Hike along Cedar Swamp Trail in High Point State Park A beautiful and diverse, yet flat and easy, two-hour hike in High Point State Park in the Dryden Kuser Natural Area. At 2:00 pm, after parking cars at the end of the road in the Cedar Swamp Picnic Area,
we’ll walk (stroll?) along the Cedar Swamp Trail, which follows a closed road into the Atlantic White Cedar Bog, the highest elevation and one of its kind in the U.S. The trailforks and circles around the perimeter of the bog. This hike is rated “Easy, consisting of mostly flat, paved, gravel and boardwalk.” (It’s a two-mile loop.) The zone is of particular interest to botanists as it includes rare and uncommon plant species, such as the endangered three-toothed cinquefoil, typically found in more northern or southern habitats. Uncommon breeding and overwintering birds are also found, including the Cooper’s hawk and white-wing crossbills.

An informational trail guide and map will be provided, as will a bottle of water and a baggy of trail munchies for each hiker. We'll also enjoy a brown bag snack with goodies to enjoy together at the end.

Introduction to Abdominal Therapy Traditional healers knew the importance of abdominal massage. Your abdomen is the very core of your body, and what happens in your abdomen impacts your entire health. During this workshop, we'll explore the wonders of your abdomen and pelvic bowl, and how a simple,
yet profoundly effective, external self-care massage of the abdomen can bring a huge benefit to your overall health. You'll learn fascinating information that supports you in your own healing journey. The techniques taught in the class have long been used to support digestive, reproductive, and bladder health. This class welcomes all genders and families, is essential for anyone who's had abdominal surgery, and really will help anyone with an abdomen! (At the Fellowship from 10:00 to 3:00.)
