From Her Arms to His - The Women of the Springfield Armory 1943-44 - This is the story , a slice of American life from the midst of the war years. The story of the women ordnance workers of the Armory pressing towards D-Day, is told through letters from one woman to her young husband serving on the Italian front. They discuss and disagree about the lawsuit brought against the Armory for ‘Prejudice in Job Assignment’ – which offers a picture of an America with many real, small, cracks and yet powerfully united to win a war.
