My offering on May 17 at 7:00 pm at the church is a showing of the 2004 Show, “I Had a Dream.” The concept of this show involves a group of UUs trying to plan a really big fundraiser. One of the ideas that pops up is a celebrity showcase where big name singers come and endorse their cause and sing a song or two (you know, a farm-aid kind of thing). Of course, they soon realize that, while Jim Scott and Ellen Hansen-Ellis are very talented, they may not draw hundreds of thousands. Eventually, the group breaks up without coming up with anything and goes home. This year we will do a two mile hike along Adam Run Stream in the Cuyahoga Valley. This hike is in the Hampton Hills Metropark, nestled within the national park at 2925 Akron-Peninsula Rd. Along this meandering stream we will find many of the delicate and beautiful wildflowers that bless NE Ohio in the early spring. Your hosts will help with flower discovery and identification. Lift your spirits with Trilliums, Wild Phlox, Spring Beauties, Trout Lilies, Bluets, Cohosh, Anemones, and more. This in-and-out hike is a lovely setting but is always muddy in spring, so proper footwear is essential. The hike is a rolling trail up and back down the creek valley, with a couple (easy) stream crossings. After the hike, any who are interested can meet for lunch nearby at Fisher’s in Peninsula (Dutch treat). I have lots of toys which our kids enjoyed and we live close to the library, playground, and metroparks, all within walking distance. I also have quiet activities like games, and crafts that my children enjoyed. If your kids like to bake, we can even bake cookies. They can try out our piano if they are musically inclined. I have a dog and two cats, so only people who are comfortable with animals should buy. The time would have to be arranged with the buyer. You will never find a deal like this one at $10 per hour for an energetic experienced teacher and mom/grammy.
