The History of Russia from Peter the Great to Gorbachev

A recent front page article of the New York Times had "experts" positing that Putin acts as he does because he had ADD. Ha! We know better, and you will too, once you've watched this enthralling 36 lecture course. You'll learn how "Russia" began (in the Ukraine) when the Vikings arrived and organized the Slavs, how throughout history people inside and outside of Russia have considered the general Russian populace to be "backward," how heavy-handed autocracy became the acceptable norm for Russian rule, how idealism came to be overrun by incredible tyranny in the 20th C. And that's just for starters! (6 Great Courses DVDs plus course Guidebook) 1 0 000350.0 350 .0002E7 20

"Outback: Screen of Secrecy" is a mixed media work (that included tea bags, a motherboard and HO gauge model railroad figures) by Jim McCormick, retired UNR art teacher and long-time member of this Fellowship. It was created in 2010, and it reflects the artist's fascination with the grids, both seen and unseen, that intersect the state of Nevada.: power lines, roads, fences, and mineral claims. A human being walking across desert terrain also leaves marks that become trails that can also become part of the grid. 1 0 000400.0 400 .001E7 100
