Hike at Jonathan's Woods
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Let's take a 4.5-5 mile hike at Jonathan's Woods in Denville. We will have a snack at the Hog Pen feature.
This park was first preserved by POWWW (Protect Our Wetlands, Water and Woods - www.powww.org) and is now under the auspices of the Morris County Park Commission (MPCP).
From the MPCP site: The well-marked trail network takes you through forests, wetlands, ridges, and babbling brooks and streams. Each trail leads to unique experiences like bird watching, spring wildflowers, fall colors, diverse animal habitats, and more.
You’ll even find some local history at Hog Pen, a natural enclosure of rocks used as a seasonal animal shelter during and prior to the American Revolution.
Most trails we will take are rated level 3 (elevation change over areas of uneven surfaces; 8 in or less obstacles) by the MPCP; some sections are level 2 (slight elevation change over minimally uneven surfaces; 2 in or less obstacles).

Journey to Morocco
Invalid Image LinkSold
Invalid Image Link
How many times have you watched “Casablanca,” wondering what it would be like to be in Morocco? Just south of the Gibraltar Straits, we of European and Ottoman ancestry could feel our links to the people of North Africa. We gazed west across the Atlantic Ocean, standing where a pirate ancestor once worked for a sultan. Come learn how to wind a long scarf into a turban, as we did while crossing the Sahara. Come see lovely images from this wonderful country and hear interesting stories of our adventures as we munch on freshly-baked bread, appetizers, desserts, mint tea (and more!) as we did with nomadic shepherds, fig farmers, folk musicians, and Berber families. It’s worth the 400 dirham (that’s 40 bucks in US currency) to come "riding on the Marrakesh Express” with us. 26 -3 .0004E7 40 4/5/25 4:00 PM

In 2002 Tom Stoppard completed the play in three parts The Coast of Utopia, which is based mostly on Isaiah Berlin’s Russian Thinkers. Its focus is the period of European upheaval from 1833 to 1866. The Russian thinkers we will focus on are Mikhail Bakunin and Alexander Herzen. We will not undertake the entire three-part play, but rather focus on the third part Salvage. Isaiah Berlin is sometimes credited with founding the discipline The History of Ideas partly with this work. I think that is overstated, we can discuss, please bring your counterexamples. Saying that; there is no preparation necessary. We will provide light fare and beverages. The event is in the MUUF Dining Room on May 18, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm 8 7 .00075E7 75 5/18/25 4:00 PM

During the session, Pam will communicate with several people "in spirit" and provide messages from the other side to a number of participants. Although each person in attendance will not have an individual reading, the experience of being in the presence of loved ones and feeling the emotional impact of this connection will be inspiring and uplifting for everyone who attends. Refreshments will be served.

Come Fly With Me
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Experience a flight in a small (Gabor does mean small!) two-seater Cessna 150 airplane. See your house, the Water Gap, the Fellowship, foliage, flowering trees, and more from approximately 2000–3000 feet. The plane has dual controls so you can get some hands-on experience, but let Gabor do the landing, please! Departure is from Somerset Airport in Bedminster.

Date TBD and of course subject to weather. But winners will get their flights EVENTUALLY ....
