Orienteering is hiking through the woods trying to find markers laid out along a course. Some people take it very seriously, running the course and competing for best time. We will take it leisurely, treating it more like a treasure hunt, which kids especially enjoy. For an intro to orienteering, visit http://www.dvoa.org/learn/begin/whatiso.php We will join a regularly scheduled orienteering event organized by the Delaware Valley Orienteering Association held on Sunday Dec 4 at Rutgers Ecological Preserve in Piscataway, NJ. The Association charges $12 for adults and $7 for those under 21 to participate. The $5 bid per person is a donation the UU for guided instruction on the course. The weather should be good – not too cold, but cool enough that you won’t get overheated while hiking and no bugs! The course will be about 2 miles and nearly flat.
